Equalities Information
We recognise and accept our duties and responsibilities to eliminate discrimination and promote equality, including the requirement to involve the whole school community in the process in order to ensure better outcomes for all.
Our current equalities policy can be accessed here.
We have a four year equalities statement from June 2025-2028. This is reviewed annually. Please click here to see this document.
We have three main areas that we are focusing on during this time.
School of Sanctuary
At Brackenbury Primary School, we are proud to be working towards becoming a School of Sanctuary. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child and family is valued, respected and able to thrive.
We believe that everyone deserves to feel a sense of belonging. As a school community, we actively celebrate diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination in all its forms. We are committed to ensuring that children and families seeking sanctuary are welcomed with kindness, compassion and understanding.
Through our curriculum, school values and daily practice, we help our pupils to develop empathy and an awareness of the experiences of others, including those who have been displaced. We ensure that our school environment reflects the richness of the wider world and that all children see themselves represented and valued.
We work closely with families and external partners to provide meaningful support, and we listen carefully to the voices of our pupils to shape an inclusive and respectful school culture.
As part of the Schools of Sanctuary network, we are committed to continuing to learn, reflect and develop our practice. We will share our journey with others and support the wider community in promoting a culture of welcome and inclusion.
